Please note: This Kids Art Club is at our East Coburg Neighbourhood House. Our Monday & Thursday Kids Art Club classes are held at our Newlands Neighbourhood House.
Our Kids Art Club fosters a freedom of expression of Self, and expands ways of seeing through art.
Using art to tap into the creative impulse in a supportive and friendly environment, children will learn about basic art history, foundational art skills, play with materials, and learn new ways of relating. Children will create original works of art to make their mark on the world and say “this is me!” and “this is what I see!”
Each week we will build-up our skills, look at a range of artist’s works, and continue our practice prioritising fun and the values of exploration and experimentation. Our facilitator is artist and educator Kat.
Kat has made art for the last 12 years. She has a Master of Fine Art from Monash University and has exhibited around the world. She loves freedom and using art as a tool to refine and raise consciousness. Kat believes art can create a channel of Love, and her interest is in the punk methodology of prioritising Ideas and Vision over technical skill. She used to live across the road from NECCHi East Coburg and has spent a lot of time sitting on the bench in the NECCHi front garden.
